Sea World Gold Coast is an oceanarium, aquarium, amusement park and a small water park all rolled into one. With all of this is one place there is more than enough to keep all the family entertained.
Amongst the marine attractions is the Shark Bay which is a two level exhibit allowing you to view the sharks above and below the water. There is also a dive pool where you can scuba dive with the sharks and see tropical fish and stingrays.
Polar Bear Shores is home to the only Polar Bears in Australia. It is a large enclosure where the two polar bears, which came from Canada, can swim, dive and play.
The Dolphin Nursery Pool is home to young dolphins which have been bred at Sea World and Penguin Point has Fairy Penguins which they hope to have a successful breeding program with.
There is also a large aquarium with 17 individual displays with tropical fish from the Barrier Reef, frogs and other inhabitants and a Dugong Discovery area.
Rides in Sea World Gold Coast include the Jet Rescue where you ride on jet skis on a track at speeds of up to 70km/h, the Corkscrew Rollercoaster with its three loops, the Pirate Ship which swings you high in the sky, the Bermuda Triangle which is an adventure ride with amazing special effects and the Vikings Revenge Flume where you are sure to get wet when you splash down at the end of the ride.
There is a Sesame Street area of the park for the kids with various rides such as Elmo’s Sea Subs, Big Bird Bounce and the Cookie Monster Cup Carousel. There is also a live stage show featuring all the characters from the show.
Other shows include Imagine where you will see dolphins interacting with their trainers and learn lots about them, Waterski Wipeout which is a show with lots of singing and dancing and waterskiing, Fish Detectives which features sea lions and Planet SOS in 4D which is an animated presentation covering environmental issues.
The water park has 2 swimming pools one of which is for kids. The kids area has a mini slide and some water fountains. I would not recommend this if you are looking for a water park with lots of slides and want to spend the whole day enjoying the water but it is great option if you simply want to cool down after a day enjoying the other attractions that Sea World Gold Coast has to offer.
There are various ways of getting around the park such as the Sky High Skyway where you ride in a small cable car and get great views of the park, the Sea World Mono Rail which has three stops on its route and The Grand Central Train Tour which is a replica steam train.
