Surfers Paradise Restaurants and CafesThere is a huge variety of Surfers Paradise restaurants, cafes and takeaways with something for every budget and every taste. You will find lots of lunchtime specials on offer and one place to try is the Las Vegas Bistro attached to the Islander Resort Hotel on the corner of Surfers Paradise Blvd and Beach Road which offers great fish and chips with salad and rump steak, chips and salad. The Surfers Paradise SLSC is a good place to have a cheap lunch with lots of wraps and dishes for under $10 and then in the evening they have an a la carte menu with all the usual dishes. At the weekends they also do a buffet breakfast which is good value if you are hungry. There are also a few cafes along the Esplanade between Elkhorn Avenue and Cavill Avenue which are open for breakfast and lunch and plenty of cheap eats on Cavill Avenue. This is the area where you will find all the large chains fast food restaurants such as McDonalds, Hungry Jack, KFC and quite a few kebab shops. For me one of the best Surfers Paradise restaurants options on Cavill Avenue is the Hog's Breath Cafe which is downstairs next to O'Malley's Irish Pub. It specialises in Prime Rib but everything we've ever eaten there is good. O'Malley's and Kitty O'Shea's are another two good options for lunch and dinner on Cavill Avenue and they both have a good range of Irish dishes such as Irish Stew and Guinness and Steak Pie. Cavill Avenue continues on the other side of Surfers Paradise Boulevard and there you will find Circle on Cavill which is a nice area with the Kamikazi Tappanyaki Restaurant, Fishnets Cafe and the Pacino Pizza Restaurant. There is a large screen in this circle which often has the TV on so you can watch this as you eat if you sit outside. Just along Cavill Avenue from here is the Bavarian Haus which is a German restaurant decorated as such and offering some typical German dishes. They have an underground beer keller with more than 40 beers, large screen TV and a comfortable lounge area. The Captain's Table on Orchid Avenue is a lovely restaurant which specialises in seafood but also does meat and pasta dishes. You should try the 1/2 lobster and rump steak special or the seafood platter for two. Also on Orchid Avenue is La Porchetta Italian restaurant which is part of a chain and often has good lunch and dinner set menus. One of our favourite Surfers Paradise restaurants is the Koreana BBQ Restaurant on Elkhorn Avenue has a cafe look to it but the food is great and a bit different than the norm. All of the meat comes marinated and is cooked on the gas BBQ hot plate on your table. If you don't want to BBQ then there are other more standard asian style dishes. It is BYO and you can find a bottle shop on Surfers Paradise Blvd nearby. Opposite this is the India Gate restaurant which has a good selection of Indian curry dishes. The Chevron Renaissance Centre just off of Surfers Paradise Boulevard has a few Italian style restaurants offering breakfast, lunch and dinner and is a lovely setting to have a meal. Cafe Renaissance and Sardjiono's are both nicely decorated with plenty of outdoor seating which is heated in the winter. Between these two is the Chat Room cafe which is a cafe and bar with wireless internet. On the corner of Chevron and Surfers Paradise Boulevard is Chapters and Cinos Cafe and bookshop which has free wireless internet for customers. Surfers Paradise Boulevard has lots of cafes and takeaways on it and a good option is the Clock Hotel which has lunchtime offers. There are also lots of restaurants on this street such as La Paella Spanish restaurant which has lots of typical Spanish dishes such as Patatas Bravas, Calamares and of course Paella, the Santa Lucia Italian restaurant, the Tandoori Palace Indian restaurant, the Seorabeol Korean restaurant, quite a few Chinese restaurants and of course the Hard Rock Cafe. If you are prepared to go a bit further afield The Marina on The Spit in Main Beach is home to some great seafood restaurants and one we can highly recommend is the Wharf Restaurant which has a very romantic atmosphere and lovely views over the marina. The Seared Scallops and Chorizo Salad starter is excellent and the Pan Fried Snapper for main course is even better. The meal we had there was one of the best we've had in Australia. Other options in this area are Saks which has lovely views of the marina through its tall glass windows and is very smartly decorated and the Fisherman's Wharf Tavern which does a wide range of dishes from Bangers and Mash to some wonderful seafood concoctions.
