Rainbow Beach Accommodation

- From Caravan Parks to Luxury Apartments

Rainbow Beach Accommodation has something for everyone depending on your budget and whether you fancy roughing it or living in luxury. Given the small size of the town there is an excellent range of accommodation available.

There are a couple of caravan parks in Rainbow Beach but the one with the best location right in the centre of town is the Rainbow Beach Holiday Village which is a member of the Top Tourist group. It is a large park with plenty of grassy sites and lots of cabins and villas which were shipped here from Sydney after the Olympics.

The other caravan park is the Rainbow Waters Holiday Park which is right on the Tin Can Inlet at Carlo Point.

There are lots of QPWS camping grounds on the Inskip Peninsula with fabulous locations right on the beach but with minimal facilities. You need a permit to camp on any of these sites and you can get them by phoning 13 13 04 or using the link above.

Rainbow Beach Backpackers Accommodation

If you are staying in backpackers then you have a choice of three, all on Spectrum Street. There is Frasers on Rainbow which is in a converted motel with lovely, clean rooms all with their own bathrooms. It has its own bar, lovely swimming pool and a cafe which does good value breakfasts and dinners.

Dingo's Backpacker Resort which has a bit more of a party atmosphere. All their rooms are 7 bed mixed dorms and have air con and ensuite bathrooms. They do free pancake breakfasts along with free tea and coffee. They also specialise in organising camping trips to Fraser Island and will help you get together with others to create a group making the trip a bit cheaper.

Pippies Beachhouse has a relaxed atmosphere and does a free BBQ on Wednesday nights. They can also help you set up a tour to Fraser Island.

Rainbow Getaway Holiday Apartments has 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments and a pool, spa, gym and BBQ area. The 2 and 3 bedroom apartments have lovely balconies but the 1 bedroom apartments look out at a fence. They have Austar and DVD players in all of the apartments. The advantage is that they are fairly cheap.

The Rainbow Sands Resort has motel style rooms and 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, a pool, a spa and a BBQ area but is a bit rundown. You can phone them on (07) 5486 3400

The Rainbow Shores Resort is a couple of kilometres out of town on Rainbow Shores Drive. It is in a beautiful setting and has a 9 hole golf course. They also have their own restaurant and bar in the resort.

Luxury Rainbow Beach Accommodation

If you are looking for luxury apartments you could try the Rainbow Sea Resort on Oceanview Parade. They have a lovely infinity pool and all the apartments have large balconies with spectacular views of the ocean and of Fraser Island. You can see more information using the link above.

Alternatively you could try the Rainbow Ocean Palms Resort which has spa baths in all apartments, fabulous views from each balcony and an infinity pool. You can phone them on (07) 5486 3211.

Rainbow Beach Restaurants

Rainbow Beach actually has quite a few eating options given that it as such a small place.

Our favourite choice is the Sports and Recreation Club which has all you can eat evening buffets from Wednesday to Sunday with each day having a different theme. Thursday is International Night and Sunday is the roast dinner carvery which is great value for money. If you don't want to eat from the buffet they also have an a la carte menu with plenty of options. There is plenty of dining space with separate areas for buffet and a la carte.

The Waterview Bistro at 103 Cooloola Drive is set above the town and has great views over the ocean and Fraser Island. It is probably the fanciest restaurant in town and the bar and terrace is a great place to have a drink and watch the sunset. It is open for lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday. The only problem is that it is a bit of a hike if you don't want to drive.

The bistro in the Rainbow Beach Surf Club does the usual choices and is a busy spot at weekends.

There are plenty of cafes and takeaways on Rainbow Beach Road in the centre of town.

Rainbow Beach Bars

There are not too many options for having a drink in Rainbow Beach. If you are staying in one of the backpackers hostels they have their own bars and various party nights on different nights.

The Surf Club has a lovely balcony overlooking the sea and is a great spot to have an afternoon or early evening drink. It also has an indoor bar which has a cosy atmosphere on a cold evening.

There is also a bar in the Sports and Recreation Club which has a nice balcony overlooking the bowling greens.
