Mooloolaba Restaurants and Bars

There is a great selection of Mooloolaba restaurants and the three main areas to look are The Wharf, The Spit and The Esplanade.

The Wharf is home to a great variety of restaurants. The See Restaurant under the tower has a romantic atmosphere, great views of the marina and an interesting menu. Hog's Breath Cafe specialises in Prime Rib Steak but does a wide range of other dishes all of which are good. If you have a big appetite try the Smoked BBQ Ribs which really are amazing. Also in the Wharf are the Wharf Thai Restaurant, Spagayinis Italian Restaurant which has a wide range of pasta and pizza but also offers meat and fish dishes and does a good value midweek dinner special and the Wharf Tavern Bistro which also have great marina and river views.

On the Spit there are 3 or 4 great fish and chips places all serving up fresh local fish. Our favourite is the Mooloolaba Fish Market which not only does great food but also has an upstairs deck with heaters and river views.

Next to these is Fish on Parkyn which is a more upmarket fish restaurant. It is nicely decorated with tables inside and out and has some great fish and seafood dishes on offer.

The Mooloolaba Surf Club has a bistro which serves lunch and dinner seven days a week and you can either sit indoors or outside on the deck and enjoy the sea views on offer. They have a la carte but also do daily specials which are a good deal.

There are some good Mooloolaba restaurants on the Esplanade. For great pasta dishes and award winning pizzas you should try Augello's which is on the corner of Brisbane Street. They have a small outdoor eating area downstairs but the upstairs dining room is a better option as it has great sea views and a lovely atmosphere. The pizzas there really are wonderful. Hot Pipis is a good seafood restaurant with pavement dining, Semo's Moroccan Restaurant does good Tagine and other daily specials and Karma Waters has a Portuguese slant to their food.

You will find a wide range of cafes along the Mooloolaba Esplanade all of which have outdoor areas. It is difficult to recommend one over the others as it really depends what you are looking for.

Mooloolaba Bars

My favourite pub in Mooloolaba is the Wharf Tavern. It is a large place with a dining area, pokies and gaming rooms, an attractive indoor lounge area with lots of comfortable chairs and couches and a fabulous deck overlooking the river with lots of tables. The deck is a great place to sit for an early evening drink and plan which yacht you'll buy when you win the lottery. It also has a nightclub which is open till 3am at weekends.

The Mooloolaba Surf Club is the place in Mooloolaba to have a drink if you want to look at the sea at the same time. It has an upstairs deck with uninterrupted sea views to Maroochydore and beyond. It also has a lovely lounge area with comfortable chairs and couches and a large screen to watch sport.

O'Malley's is a large Irish pub in the Mooloolaba International Resort shopping mall. It has a dining area at the back with a lovely little library off of it and a large bar at the front with an open window on to the mall. There is entertainment each night with NRL on Mondays, Trivia on Tuesdays, a DJ on Wednesdays and Thursdays, live bands on Fridays and Saturdays and karaoke followed by a DJ on Sundays. They also do evening food specials from Monday to Thursdays and you should go along on a Wednesday evening to sample some of the traditional Irish dishes that they serve.

The Pub, next to Coles on Walen Street, is a large Aussie style pub a few streets back from the beach. The large bar area has all the usual betting screens but there is an area outside which has heaters for the colder evenings and a nice Bistro in a different area. It has entertainment most nights with Karaoke on Mondays and Thursdays, a Texas Holdem Poker tournament on Tuesdays and live music on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday afternoons.

Zinc's on The Esplanade starts the day as a restaurant and bar for lunch and dinner but once the kitchen closes it becomes a trendy spot as does Zachary's on Brisbane Road which has black leather couches and armchairs.

240V on The Esplanade is the nightclub in this area. It has a bar downstairs, a pokies room and the nightclub. It opens early evening and stays open till late.
