Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary- Presentations and ActivitiesIf you fancy having your photo taken cuddling a koala or holding a crocodile this is the place to do it.Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary have a full programme of Presentations and Activities. At the time of writing the timetable was as follows:
You can also pay to have a photo taken with a koala at any time of the day. When you buy your ticket you will be given a leaflet telling you where each of these activities takes place. The animal presentations are very interesting and they tell you lots of information about what they eat, where they live, how to distinguish between males and females and such like. The bird of prey flight show is a real spectacle. You see a sea eagle, a wedge-tailed eagle and some owls flying and taking food from the handlers and the handlers tell you lots of information about how the different birds hunt and so on. It is amazing how low some of these birds actually fly and you need to be fairly still during the show. The other activity I loved was the wild lorikeet feeding which is fantastic. The birds know exactly when feeding time is and they start to arrive about 15 minutes before hand. The "keeper" fills quite a few containers with a porridge type feed that the birds can stand on and eat from. You can hold these containers with the birds on them which is great. Some of the birds are very tame and will sit on your shoulders, head or arms. For young children the barn animal bottle feeding and the chick and guinea pig holding are great fun.
