Brisbane and Beyond is the result of our extensive travels in Australia. We spent many hours researching for this website and would like to share our experiences and travel tips with you. We hope it will provide you with plenty of information to help you plan your next holiday downunder.



During our time in Australia we flew, drove, walked and cycled thousands of kilometres. We took thousands of photos and spent countless hours mingling with the friendly locals in bars and restaurants around the country. We even became "footy fans" as we cheered on the Broncos every weekend.

Although not as famous as Sydney and Melbourne, Brisbane is a lovely city and quieter than the other two. Its landmarks may not famous but are well worth visiting. The Story Bridge is not as big as the Harbour Bridge but you can climb it and get great views over the city and all the way to the sea in Moreton Bay.

Being quite a small city most sights are easily accessible either on foot or by public transport. The Brisbane River runs through it and has lovely walking and cycling paths along its banks. The wonderful, artificial city beach can be found right next to the river in Southbank. It is a great place to relax and soak up the sun, watch an outdoor movie in the late afternoon or early evening while floating in the pool or just sit and watch the world go by.

Situated in south-east Queensland Brisbane is located 15km from the coast. It has a sub tropical climate and many beautiful parklands and botanical gardens with flora of this climate.

With such close proximity to both the Gold Coast to the south and the Sunshine Coast to the north and a major international airport it is the perfect place to begin a holiday in Queensland. There are flights to most major and some minor destinations in Queensland and the rest of Australia.
