There is a patrolled swimming area just in front of the Surf Club and it is advised that if you intend to swim you should do so in that area. Surfers have plenty of spots along the beach to choose from. For the adrenalin junkies you could consider skydiving. Skydive Ramblers offer tandem skydiving and sky diving courses where you can actually land on the beach itself. If you would like to learn to surf you should try Coolum Surfing School. There is a toilet block here with showers which could come in handy after a day on the beach. AccommodationCoolum Beach Caravan Park is a huge park and is part of the Family Parks group and is council run. It is located right on David Low Way which might make some of the pitches a little noisy but it also goes back as far as the beach so mostly it is quiet and peaceful. It has lots of grassy powered and unpowered sites some of which are right next to the beach, some cabins and plenty of amenities blocks. There is a small kitchen with a fridge and a TV and some free BBQs. Visit the Maroochy Beach Caravan Parks website for more information. There are plenty of apartments in and around Coolum Beach such as the 4 star Coolum Baywatch Resort which is centrally located, Coolum Caprice which as 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, the 4 1/2 star Coolum Beach Getaway Resort with its basketball and half teniis court and the 5 star Coolum Seaside Resort which is the most luxurious option. There are quite a few cafes on the main street including Coolum Seafood which does fish n chips, Sorrento's Cafe which does fruit juices, burgers and sandwiches and Dough Wood Fired Pizzas which was voted Best Gourmet Pies in Australia in 2007. There is also a McDonald's and a Coffee Club. If you are looking for something a bit more special you could try the Bowls Club which is set back from the main street and does lunch and dinner or the bistro in the Surf Club which also does lunch and dinner and has great views overlooking the beach and sea. The main spots to have a drink in town are the Surf Club (mentioned above) and the Coolum Beach Hotel which is to the north of the town and although it doesn't have beach views the deck is still a nice spot to sit and relax with that well deserved drink.
