Byron Bay HostelsWhich One Will Suit You Best?There is no shortage of Byron Bay hostels it's simply a case of deciding which location and hostel suits you best. Byron Bay is very popular with backpackers so it is no surprise that there are lots of Byron Bay backpackers hostels. Some are best suited to those who want to party while others offer quieter surroundings. Nomads Odyssey Backpackers Hostel is a new place only opened in March 2009. It is located just behind the Great Northern Hotel in the centre of town just a few minutes walk from the beach and has a variety of rooms from doubles to 6, 8, 10 and 12 bed dorms. It has a large, modern kitchen, a BBQ area and internet facilities to mention just a few of the facilities. They also offer activities such as the lighthouse walk and BBQs so the Nomads hostel is a great place to meet other backpackers and travellers. The Arts Factory Backpackers Lodge is a bit out of the centre and is in a sprawling subtropical garden setting. It was originally created by hippies in the 70s and still maintains that atmosphere. They have evening entertainment, daily workshops such as didgeridoo making and yoga and a wide range of accommodation such as Indian Teepees, Island Bungalows and standard dormitories. They offer great 3 and 5 night packages and free pick-up. This Byron Bay hostel is a bit out of the ordinary and should appeal to laid back people. The Byron Bay YHA is in the town centre at 7 Carlyle Street and has a courtyard with a heated pool, free bikes and weekly BBQs. The lovely communal outdoor area is a great place to relax and meet other backpackers and the staff in this YHA are very friendly and helpful. You can choose from twin and double rooms or 4 and 9 bed dorms with shared facilities. Also in Byron Bay you will find the Cape Byron YHA on the corner of Middleton and Byron Streets. This is in a purpose built building and has an outdoor area round a pool and BBQ area. It has a cafe, a dive centre and a TV and reading room.They also offer free use of bikes and boogie boards. You can choose from twin and double rooms or 5 and 10 bed dorms. The Main Beach Backpackers is also in the centre of town on the corner of Lawson and Fletcher Streets. It is a large place with various styles of accommodation, a salt water pool and a big deck with views of the hinterland. They do BBQ nights a couple of timesa week at a cheap price. Cape Byron Lodge prides itself on being one of the original Byron Bay hostels and it is located at 78 Bangalow Road which is a bit out of the town. They offer free pickup from the bus stop when you arrive in Byron Bay and they will also drop you off when you are ready to leave. The rooms in this Byron Bay backpackers range from twins, triples and quads to 4 and 8 bed dorms. There is a salt water pool where you can relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, a BBQ area and a large communal kitchen. They offer free use of bikes and body boards and run twice weekly tours to the Byron Bay lighthouse. Athough not a Byron Bay hostel the Byron Bayside Motel at 14 Middleton Street is another good budget option. The rooms are large with a double bed, a set of bunk beds, a small kitchenette and many have a large balcony. They will also put extra beds in so if you are looking for a break from backpacker hostels but don't want to spend too much you should check this place out. Some other cheap Byron Bay accommodation options you may want to consider are the Great Northern Hotel which has some basic rooms, Amigos Guesthouse, Byron Springs Guesthouse and Treetops Studio.
