Ballina Accommodation

From Caravan Parks to 5 Star Hotels

There is a wide range of Ballina accommodation available with something to suit all budgets.

Ballina Caravan Parks

There are 3 caravan parks in or near the town. Our Favourite is the Ballina Central Caravan Park which is the nearest to the town and is run by a very friendly couple.  It is quite small and doesn't have very many spaces for tents but does have a good number of caravan pitches and cabins. There is no camp kitchen but there are 2 BBQs which take $1 coins. It is almost directly opposite the Visitor Centre and the Richmond River beach.

The Shaws Bay Caravan Park is just out of town on the coast road to Byron Bay. It is bigger than the Ballina Central Caravan Parke but it doesn't have a camp kitchen and is not great for tents. There is a range of cabins which accommodate uo to 5 people and there are powered sites with beautiful views of the Richmond River.  It does have both a takeaway and a hotel serving meals right next to it.    Both of these caravan parks are council parks and offer frre wireless internet if you have your own laptop.

The other Byron Bay caravan park is the Ballina Lakeside Holiday Resort which is a huge place with excellent facilities and plenty of activities for kids.  We found it to be a bit too big and impersonal for us but it may be the best option if you have kids. It has a lovely pool with shade around it, a games room, mini-golf, a gym with fairly good equipment and a playground with  a jumping pillow. During the summer they also have an activity programme to help keep the children enetertained. This campsite is a member of the Top Tourist Parks.

There are a few other caravan parks in the area and if you want more information on them you should contact the visitors centre in Ballina.

The Ballina YHA at 36 Tamar Street is in a great location close to the centre of town and the riverside beach. It is run by very friendly, helpful people and has a real home away from home atmosphere but is not the place to go to if you are looking to party. It has a pool, a large kitchen and an outdoor area and has double and twin rooms and 4 bed dorms.

The most luxurious of the  Ballina accommodation is the 5 star Ballina Manor Boutique Hotel on Norton Street. There are only 12 rooms in the hotel and all of them are beautifully decorated and have fridges, Austar TV and wirless internet. The Ballina Manor Boutique Hotel has won awards and pride themselves on providing fine dining and excellent service.

There are also a range of motels on River Street such as the Ballina Heritage Inn and the Richmond Motor Inn which are right in the centre of town. You could also check out the Ramada Hotel and Suites which is located right on the river.
